Performing Arts Final Image

Hi guys,

So a few weeks ago I created a ballet themed makeup for part of my university submission. My theme was performing arts as I take massive inspiration from it and I love the overall beauty and expression of it all. People are free to express themselves and I love that. One thing that I am drawn into is ballet. I started to research in depth the history of ballet and the looks that compliment it. I wanted to create a different style of makeup and something that isn't just an ordinary ballet makeup. I watched YouTube channels on pink cut creases and glitter roots, in order to achieve a more modern feel to my makeup I needed to create something like this. I have linked the tutorials down below, these are also my favourite Youtubers so I found it easy to watch and then I practiced these looks at home so I knew what kind of feel and vibe of makeup I wanted to achieve.

I then started to look into shades and tones that would compliment my props and styling, with these both being white it was quite easy and I could use any shades that I wanted. I opted for red tones instead of the typical pink, and decided to create a modern blown out smokey eye instead of a sultry and toned down look; I did not want this to be minimalistic. I used my favourite platform of social media to search for inspiration, Pinterest. Below I have attached my main sources of inspiration; obviously I had a whole moodboard of images but these particular images really stood out to me. I loved the colours the images have and the modern feel to it. I love the blown out look in image 1, with wispy lashes, definitely not minimal. In image 2 I love that it still does have a minimalistic feel but the pink on the eyes really drawers me in. I have also attached images of my prop inspiration below; I created my flower swing to give my image a pure vibe to it, which would tone my look down slightly. Everything I created was to compliment each other.

I have attached an image of my behind the scenes makeup before the touch ups and what it looked like without all the lighting and props, just the makeup alone.

Here is my edited Photoshop image, compared to the original. As you can see I've changed the colour of the base of the swing to white, to give off a more pure feel and a gentle look. I have also edited out the models tattoo. Like I previously mentioned in my evaluation, I actually liked the models tattoo running down her back, but the final image I chose was face on, so I decided to erase the tattoo on her shoulder. Overall I am proud of my images and more than happy with the way they have turned out.
