Updated Primer Routine

Hey guys, welcome back to my blog!

I have decided to share my priming routine with you. Although I don't always stick to the same products, I do have my go to favorites that never let me down. As an MUA I LOVE discovering and experimenting with new products, so I do love to switch it up a bit, I get bored of using the same things lol.

I start off by using my holy grail primer, PRIMETIME by bareMinerals. I use the original, although you can buy this in an oil control and brightening form, the original works best for my skin type. It is so important to get the right primer and the one that works for you and your skin; they help create a flawless and seamless coverage, as well as increasing the longevity of your makeup. PRIMETIME is a silicone-based primer; I love this as it acts as a filler that sits in all fine lines and wrinkles...perfect!

You can buy this product direct from the bareMinerals website.

Still focusing on my face I then go onto apply my Strobe cream by MAC. This is also another holy grail product (I have a lot of these) I literally can't leave the house without this, it's AMAZING. This product aims to luminize your skin with iridescent particles; it easily boosts dull looking skin. Early get up? No problem. Severe hangover? Again…no problem. BUY IT! You guys will know exactly what I'm going on about once you test it out for yourselves. I love highlighted, glowed up skin...it's my fave, and this is the best product to boost your highlight up to a godly level. You can buy this product direct from the MAC website, you can buy it in travel size too! I recommend this highly when testing out a new product.

I apply both these products with my Zoeva 112 petit stippling brush. Pretty much all my brushes are Zoeva, they're amazing, so affordable and the best brushes I have ever used. I bought this separately but you can get really cute collections, I have some of them too...guilty. You can get these directly from Zoeva, however this means getting them shipped from Germany, so I recommend purchasing them off BeautyBay, another amazing website. As far as I know they don't sell all of the brushes, but they do sell a good chunk.

Now I move onto my eye priming routine. Starting with my Urban Decay eyeshadow primer potion in Original. This product can be used for a bare, neutral eye or a smoked out heavy glam look. It ensures 24-hour wear, keeps your eyeshadow crease free and intensifies colour. I highly recommend this product, I find myself wearing it everyday, no matter what I am doing with my eyes that day. This product comes in two other shades - Eden and Minor Sin. Minor sin being a champagne shimmer shade and Eden a full coverage matte nude. You can buy all three colors from the Urban Decay website.

I finish off my routine with a MAC paintpot in the shade Soft Ocre. This is a yellow/beige colour and is perfect as a base for ANY eyeshadow look. MAC paintpot’s are long wearing, creamy and blendable formulas as well as increasing the longevity of your eye makeup, especially when paired with UD eyeshadow primer! This product is a must have, I apply this with my ring finger in a tapping, smoothing motion, I find this works best as brushes can pick too much product up.

I can't stress enough how important a priming routine is to achieve a perfect, flawless base that lasts through the day. It is well worth investing in some primer products as it makes all the difference. However I also understand that different products work well on different people, it takes some experimenting to find your holy grails. Hope you guys found this info useful, I love hearing about the products that people love, and hopefully you guys do too. Let me know your thoughts on them all!

Happy buying!

Jess x
